Receive vendor ASN in M3 and release the vendor ASN or manual created ASN to an external warehouse

In our operation for some vendors we want to process ASN (DESADV) into M3. These ASN do contain all the details of the shipment released by the vendor. The idea is to receive this ASN in M3 in PPS360. Reason for processing the ASN into M3 is to validate the content of the ASN before sending out to our external warehouses (3PL) not using M3. Processing into M3 enables us to release the ASN to the external warehouse with enriched data from M3 what is not known with the vendor. New vendors and not all current vendors do not send ASN messages to our company and for these vendors manual ASN must be created in PPS360.

Our external warehouses will process the actual receipt in their system against the released ASN (DESADV) from M3 and confirm their receipt in a receipt confirmation message (RECADV) to M3.

The challenge we have is that M3 does not have the possibility to release an EDI message from PPS360 or something similar to our external warehouse. If I am correct there is no output at all from the PPS360 transaction. I am surprised this is not possible and cannot really believe we are the first company having this issue. So I think we are overlooking a possible solution.

Does somebody have a similar process working in M3? What's best to set up our proposed way of working? is there an output on PPS360 that we can use?

The ASN message does contain info like: Item numbers, qty's , dates, SSCC and content etc.

Hope somebody is able to advise and help me.

we have same issue, I just asked to change the flow because it was designed on good receipt and not on ASN.

BNy reading documentation I see that PPS360 generate a BOD

I asked system integrator to work with this solution (upload ASN with PPS360 and send to external WMS, which will process and send back confirmation by also changing quantity).

I think I cannot follow you. Can you share a bit more detail how your solution works? You receive an ASN from you vendor and creates a record in PPS360. Next is to release an ASN (DESADV) message to the 3PL. How do you trigger this message?

we do not receive ASN via EDI, but we create manually in M3 with PPS360. What I'be asked to do is to use BOD generated by M3 and through ION generate message to our external WMS (bfor you a 3PL). We cna use ION to translate in XML (we communicate through XML) but I think you can generate through an EDI message with ION (not directly from M3). If you are not using ION you should in same way translate message out of M3.

We still didn't implemented, this is solution I suggested to team and they are investigating, but this is what was also confirmed in Infor documentation,

Indeed the manual creation of the ASN and getting an output is also the issue I experience. We also use ION:) . I am not familiar with the term BOD but when I check the net it is called Business object documents. I have to check more in detail but I think you will do a Sync based on a change on specific field?

I will propose this to our integrator as well. Let's keep each other updated.

No particular output at this point in PPS360.

When dealing with manual PPS360 initialization, you can look at the standard M3 BOD AdvanceShipNotice_Sync_Out which utilizes expected receipt (MHEXRH) as a trigger. If you are in the cloud, you can check the filtering criteria in EventAnalytics.

You can do various things and it depends if you want to trigger manually the ASN or automatically.

Use LoadM3EDIAdvanceShipNotice for the inbound message from the Supplier and SyncM3EDIAdvanceShipNotice for outbound to 3PL.

Some things to consider:
Inbound LoadM3EDIAdvanceShipNotice is using MHS850MI rather than PPS360MI. MHS850MI transaction type 29 creates a record in PPS360.

Outbound SyncM3EDIAdvanceShipNotice is using triggers on MHEXRH and MHEXRD rather than documents.
The SyncM3EDIAvanceShipNotice covers all transactions, not only PO. You might want update some filters in EventAnalytics Rule if you only want to cover PO.

and which is the message I need to receive back from warehouse to post good receipt? can I change quantity of delivery item and post good receipt? or only full good receipt is possible on delivery? and in this case how M3 suggest to manage the process when there are differences?

(I mean I expect to receive 100pc, create delivery for 100, when I receive stock I count only 98. Can I change qty on delviery and post good receipt?)

Page 19 of Infor M3 CE Core implementation guide for EDI messages white paper ver 3.8.pdf gives a good overview of which EDIBODs are used where. It is an attachmenet to the above KB.
LoadM3EDIReceiveDelivery should match your requirement.

The tag you're looking for is probably RecieveDeliveryItem/UserArea/Property/nameValue[@name='FlaggedAsCompleted']. It's mapped to the M3 Field OEND.
