Hello,
We are new to distribution. As several people know or may already know it is a way to create a rule to have someone (based on categories in their user profile) to get automatically enrolled to a course, curricula, catalog, certificate etc.
There is a particular question that I wanted to ask regarding how to set up a distribution rule we are working on. We have a course that everyone in our organization must take. There are many different events for that course and not everyone is always timely when registering themselves. Our goal is to create a distribution rule to fix this. We are in the early stages.
Each event or session can only have up to 20 people, and we are targeting hundreds who still need to take the course. Our goal when this is done is to have distribution take place into events/sessions where there is still room for someone to be enrolled.
When setting up a rule like this how do you account for the fact that there is no one event that anyone should go into? We just want anyone to go into any event if there is room. We want to avoid situations where distribution runs for an event that is already full. We plan to are turn off waiting lists for these events to prevent them from backing up once distribution is turned on.
So, to recap it boils down to distribution running daily to ensure people are registered into open events and sessions of a particular class that is not full already. We also want to avoid those who have already been enrolled from prior distributions running to have any sort of duplicate enrollments are communication sent to them.
If you have dealt with this specific situation before, I would greatly appreciate any perspective you might have to offer. I am also happy to have a phone call with you and can arrange that. Perhaps in return I can offer my perspective on something your company is working on.
Thanks so much.
