HSBC file name

We are seeing a number of sites where HSBC are refusing the BACS file saying it needs to be a unique file name each time. Pegasus response so far has been to say 'ask HSBC to change you over to Standard 18' Not a brilliant solution. Anyone got any better ideas?

funnily enough we had this yesterday - As the HSBC file has been like this for ages, It must be a change at their end. And for Pegasus to make the change too, they will need something official from HSBC. The client had already spoken to HSBC & they (HSBC) felt it was a temp issue at their end. So we just edited the plbacs.out file to make the ref unique.

But by the sounds of it it maybe isnt a temp thing?

I got that response by Ian Stone initially but then after pushing him he's passed to dev asking for a SCR to be raised - Development are liaising with HSBC regarding this issue - my ref 15668145

When I uploaded the wages file A_WGBACS.OUT into HSBCnet to send, it authenticated & uploaded ok, but failed the HSBCnet checks.

I had to call the HSBCnet help desk & they said that the file name should change each time.

This is in line in the file-

F03:PAYROLL

Apparently it needs to be 10 alpha capital characters & needs to change every time.

Therefore I added 3 more letters & renamed the file & it processed then fine.

I had this logged a while ago and got the same response but recently received an update to my incident advising an enhancement SCR was going to be raised for this. The SCR/KB number hasn't provided yet.

I had this on one site and we found a little workaround for them, which was to create the bacs files as normal and then go to create it again and let opera rename the old file. you then cancel the process. you can then import the renamed files ok and it is unique. this worked on purchase ledger but not on payroll

Hope you are keeping well.

Hex4W is the current format that Pegasus uses for the HSBC BACS option, which HSBC have confirmed (as per KB1918217) will continue to be supported.

As far as HSBC and the Standard 18 BACS format, HSBC have advised that should customer want to change to this format they should contact HSBC directly who can arrange to support this. The Standard 18 BACS format is maintained by the Bankers Automated Clearing Service and Opera's Standard 18 format complies with this standard.

However, we are aware that some banks have deviated from the Standard 18 format and have implemented their own version of it such as HSBC.

If the customer is being given other instructions by the HSBC BACS team then I would recommend they get something in writing (together with an example format) so we can forward this as an Enhancement Request.

You can also test to see if the other options in Opera match this example format by the Bank.

It's taken a while to get to this point! Hopefully everyone will sign up to the Solution No. so it will get fixed soon.

Sorry, but I can't see where to go to find this. The only enhancements seem to relate to Infor only products and Pegasus doesn't appear in the list?

Go to support.infor.com and enter 2222293 in the search field at the top right.

The results should list 'Article 2222293 - Pegasus', click on that link.

That will open the KB page, there is a 'Sign Up' link at the top.

When you log in on the main home screen use the search box in the top right hand corner. Enter the solution number in there and it should bring it up. You can then sign up to the solution.
