MTD - Authorisation has failed

Hi All,

Has anyone experience of the following?

Opera: 2.81.02

Scheduler : 2.20.50

Has been working unchanged for some time.

I have a site who when they go into MTD VAT Centre are getting an error "Authorisation has failed - Would you like to authorise?".  When they try to authorise they enter the gateway use and password details on the web page, click "Sign in", the button greys out but never proceeds to the next form.

I have tried their details on a copy of their system on my machine and get the same result after the normal you need to auth prompt and get the same problem.

I have also tried our MTD login details on one of their machine and it then proceeds as expected.

They can log on to the normal .gov gateway with the same credentials, so they would appear to be correct.

I suspect something is corrupt at HMRC end, but they are doing their usual we may remember to contact you in 2 days.......

Hi all,

We have had this exact problem and it took us ages to figure out the problem!

There is a popup which the browser in Opera cannot display. You have to take the URL from Opera into IE externally to Opera and then login. You can then see the popup and choose to continue to login. Then go back to Opera and it works.

Steps to fix the issue:-

1. Open the MTD VAT Centre in Opera and say Yes to authorise.
2. When the web page loads up do not click continue but right-click on the web page and select 'Properties'.
3. Copy and paste the 'Address (URL)'.
4. Open Internet Explorer and paste in the copied URL.
5. Click Continue, enter gateway details and sign in.
6. A popup will appear advising about internet redirection. Tick the box 'In the future, do not show this warning' and then click on Yes. It should sign in and the web page appears to enter the access code.
7. Close down Internet Explorer.
8. Go back to Opera, open the MTD VAT Centre (close and reopen if still open from step 1).
9. Click yes to authorise and follow the process through and it should now work.

I did log this with Pegasus who advised it was a HMRC issue which is probably true but it looks like this is occurring on more sites now than just our one.
