Relabeling User Defined Print Options

We have been relabeling the user defined print options via the window editor, but it seems that we have to recreate the customizations after every update. Is there a way to relabel these other than the window editor, that will stick through the upgrades?

I think what you are looking for is in the preferences. For example, in the Shipping entry window, when we print a packlist, we want the user defined labels to say something other than "User Defined 1" So I went into Preference Maintenance (logged in as SYSADM), in the User ID select **Tenant**. In the Section filter, I entered "Shipping". In the Grid under the column Section, it should be just be Shipping. Click on Insert Row, Under Entry, enter "RenamePackUD1", and in the Value enter what you want that label to read (i.e. Special Packlist". Click Save. I can send you a screen shot if this doesn't make sense.

you're on v9 right? you need the latest Gupta for TXT overlays to work again.

in any case, if you're "only" using windows editor to relabel the UDs, take a look at preferences (per perikson) - i've found those to be hit/miss with each patch release (they are getting better and believe Infor is working to including these types in all modules)

That makes sense, but I don't see that as an option for Estimating Window preferences.

We already had it working in 908 SP4. Just went to SP7. Do I need to update the GuptaObjectNationalizer with the change from SP4 to SP7?

you had it working in SP4? were you using TXT file overlays or EXE file replacements?

The “v9 workaround” was to use EXE option instead of TXT overlay (huge hassle with every patch release)

you need to be on "Team Developer 7.1" or higher (Team Developer 7.0 is where the fail was)

Just realized that I was using EXE file replacements because I couldn't get the text file overlays to work.

Using Preference Maintenance entries created for the "** Tenant **" user to specify the User Defined report labels is likely a much better approach in most cases. Use the following SQL statement to locate the Preference names:

SELECT

FROM

PREF_DESCRIPTION

WHERE

ENTRY LIKE '%Rename%'

ORDER BY

SECTION,

ENTRY;
