Variable Not Found when logging into Opera3

Hi all,

Just reaching out to see if anyone has experienced before and found the solution to when a user logs into Opera3, they get a program error 'Variable Not Found' but if they click ignore it will just let them on in? There is no error log or anything.

Not sure if a red herring or not, but for some reason in the config.fpw the path for RESOURCE= and in the opera configuration file the TempDIR path=

c:programdataapplication datapegasus.... however this folder c:programdataapplication data is not accessible and comes up with message "Access Denied" - I did try changing the paths in the files removing the application data (took a copy of the files before making changes :-)) but still getting the error when logging in, happens on every single client PC and on the server...

Any advice would be welcome.

you don't need the RESOURCE file so you could try change to

RESOURCE=OFF

This fixes the "Resource File is not valid” error when you don't the correct permissions set on the PC

I have also seen this when the site has a large number of bespoke projects. It is almost as though as the bespoke projects load up they exhaust some memory or resource. I have seen this fixed in the past by compiling the bespoke projects into one bespoke file. Clearly this is not always possible but worth blanking the bespoke if there is any to see which project is causing this.

Thanks Ian, this site doesn't have any bespoke, the bespoke folder is just the default files provided at installation.

Are all company data paths sensible - even ones not in use ?

Hi Alan, I know on the company it defaults to for login it is a UNC path which is valid but can certainly check the others. What is your thinking around this?

If it happens on the server and all clients and presumably also happens no matter who you are logged into Opera as then it is less likely to be environmental and more likely to be data related somehow. Is this a new install? Upgrade ?

Hi Alan, many many thanks for your steer on the bespoke possibly causing the issue. I had sent through to Pegasus the peginfo from the server and they noticed they did in fact have bespoke. It was totally my fault in not double checking this - I had totally forgotten this customer did in fact have bespoke from several years ago. The issue arose as the customer cancelled the AMC for bespoke at the start of October and the dll which runs at login to check for an active activation because there wasn't one, it gave the error - all sorted now as the bespoke is now disabled. Thank you again.
