Best version of Visual

Hello,

We are about to upgrade our Visual Enterprise version from 9.0.5. We would like to know what is the best or most stable version to upgrade to. Is anyone having any issues with 9.0.8 sp8 or 10sp3 that you would recommend avoiding them and staying at a lower version? We really don't want to jump out of the frying pan and into the fire, if you know what I mean.

10sp3 has a mega bug where you can't ship a repair RMA line with no Part ID (since it's not brought into inventory). They sent me an exe sp4 of shopping entry. Don't think we've identified any other serious bugs in sp3

Does infor publish an open bug list for each version?

There isn't an open list per se; what we usually do prior to updating to a new SP is give it some amount of time (based on your personal preference) and typically the most prevalent bugs will come out in the wash; If you log into Concierge, near the top you can search on KB Articles, just change order to 'Last Updated' and you'll usually see issues from the latest SP. You can whittle it down to the SP itself, or specific .exe's you're concerned with.

The release notes for each SP will tell you any enhancements / fixes for that release but very rarely 'known issues'; you pretty much have to search as above, and of course if you have a pilot / test db set up alongside your live db, you can always update that first and play.

We just upgraded from V10SP4 to SP6, pretty straightforward as normal; the main thing about SP5 and above is the need to upgrade client machines to the 7.3.6 Runtime (from 7.3.3 or w/e previous version you're running). I CAN say though that the runtime update utility with SP6 did update the clients' existing 7.3.3 runtimes fine, so on the client end it was actually user self-serviceable. Report builder was easy to update as well.

We're a pretty vanilla installation though so we don't really have add-ons or customizations to worry about.
