Printing on Zebra Printers from M3 MT

Hello,

I read in the Solution Support documentation #2095977 (July 2020 Session) that someone wanted feedback about the capabilities to print to Zebra printers in a Cloud environment - so in my opinion controlled by M3 IDM Output Management?
I am not able to know what was answered and if there are any recommendations about this and if it is finally possible to print directly from M3 to Zebra printers.

I know that these printers are special, but I don't know to what extent these particularities require working in a certain way in the M3 settings.

In my project context, things are accelerating.

Also, I'd be very interested in getting more clarity on what is and isn't possible to print from M3 Cloud to Zebra, the limitations, and what needs to be done to make it possible.

I am not a "techinican" and know very little about how these printers work. But I have the feeling that printing on this type of equipment does not seem to be as transparent as printing on a laser printer.

Any information on this subject will be welcome (possibly in private message not to pollute the post)

Printing in MT is not itself a problem.

Is the Zebra Printer configured ?

I'm glad to hear that printing on a zebra in TM is not necessarily a problem.

But you're right: maybe the starting point is the configuration of the printer itself.

I confess that I have no control over this as it is entirely under the control of the end customer.

Are there any recommendations I can give him that are specific to the use of a Zebra with the Clud M3?
Currently, the only view I have on printing is that IDM Output Management will generate a pdf file that should then be sent to a printer declared fairly simply in Enterprise Connector.

But are there any more specific settings in M3/IDM/Enterprise Connector or the printer itself that need to be specified when it's a Zebra Printer?

I have no feedback from such a context.

Hi,

we have several Zebra Printers set up via the Enterprise Printing Solution from Infor. (MT environment) So far no troubles, nothing special had to be set up, just have the driver on the server and it should do the job.

We are trying to print a ZPL text in a zebra printer via IDM submit API, but its failing. But the same printer prints the pdf version. We used a third party API labelary to convert the ZPL to a pdf and printed and it worked.

Is there a way we can print by sending a zpl text to zebra printer.

this i don't know, since we do not use ZPL directly.

All your zebras receive pdf so that we have an unified approach.

I already mentioned, we are using labelary. That too for testing purpose converting zpl to a pdf and printing the pdf using IDM IONAPI. We can't use labelary its not trust worthy.

My concern is to print zpl data to a zebra printer via IDM ION API.

The IDM fails to print the zpl data.
