DME Management - Location Tracking
Legacy Contributor
Hi,
We have been asked by our materials management team to come up with a way to track the wearabouts of all of our DME equipment.
Our theory was, we could create lawson numbers for each peice of equipment and use them to "issue" and "return" the equipment from the inventory location to the unit and back to the inventory location.
After looking into this in more detail, we are finding more and more reasons not to do this. Does anyone have a current process utilizing Lawson to manage DME items they would like to share?

I do not have a process, however, I have been also been tasked with tracking DME equipment. We already have Lawson Asset Management, and are not using at this time. I was planning to look at Asset Management to see if there is a way to track via Lawson Asset management. I am also very interested in how others are tracking.

Hey!
Is Asset Management a separate application or is it a set of screens within the main Lawson program? I have reached out to one of our Lawson administrators to see if they can grant us access to any "AM" screens, but not sure we even have them to begin with.
Thanks!

Hi John,
Sorry, I don't know if Asset Management is an additional Lawson module, or if it is part of Finance or Supply Chain. I would not have known our hospital was already using Asset Management if a Finance person would not have contacted me with a question. I also had our security administrator add the AM screens to my security profile in out test environment. I am hoping to be able to do some testing after the first of the year to find out what is available in the AM screens and how to use.

Asset Management is part of the Lawson Financial suite. Not sure if they have a more robust module for asset management similar to their Contracts module. But I think that AM is more for your finance team to track asset depreciation and tax or other financial reporting purposes.
I was recently on a team regarding DME equipment tracking to see if Lawson could provide a solution. Although Lawson inventory control could satisfy some of the requirements we decided that we needed a system that was designed specifically for DME tracking including mobile delivery managment for patient rentals and also moving DME from warehouse to showrooms to vans, and POS and billing. They currently use TIMS but it's an older version. We saw a demo for the latest version of TIMS with mobile delivery and a demo for Brightree, which the team liked best. I believe Brightree is the "best of breed" for DME software and our Home Care CFO says they have probably 70% of the DME market.
