How to pass dynamic parameters when planning an ad hoc report?

Hi,

My question is a general question about the scheduling of a report and the selection parameters associated with its scheduled execution.

When you design a report (for example: the list of orders of the day), you make sure through the selection functionality (or even filter) to include this criterion so that the generated list contains only the orders of the day by entering the start date and the end date with the same value, that of the day.

On the other hand, when this report is convenient for you and you want to schedule it on a regular basis (in my example, every evening to get the list of orders created today), I don't understand how I can fill the date selection field with a dynamic value and not a "hard" one.

Hi Denis_MARETTE,

You can use NOWDATE function to achieve it.
ex: Dynamic filter should be, [Time.Date]=NOWDATE

But I can't visualize when or in which screen in the planffication of my adhoc report I can specify this function but when or declare this function?

i dont think you can simply insert code in an ADHoc, but you could use the virtual field function here, it has some Date functions build in.

Thanks for the input.
It is indeed a way around the problem I had thought of.
But from an operational and practical point of view, it is not very satisfactory.
Because I could at most hide some areas by taking into account this field but I could not completely remove the record from the selection (or at least it is a way I do not know)
for example, in my simple case, it means that day after day, the list will only increase because I could not filter or select the orders of the past days.
Because unless I am mistaken, I can only use fields from the main table but not the virtual fields from these fields.

You should be able to schedule an ad hoc report with dynamic dates with the following set up / steps:

Add AHS110 to SHS030

In SHS031 for the AHS110 record, use related option 14 to create fields. You will want to make sure WFFDAT and WFTDAT appear in SHS035.

You don't need to connect them to anything.

In the ad hoc report you want to schedule, make sure you have a date field as one of the 3 selection fields.

When you go to submit the ad hoc report, it should bring you to the schedule screen where you can set your date/time for the scheduling.

Next screen should be SHS231 where you should see the from and to date fields for the report.

You can set them to current date, current date minus 1, etc.

Now each time the schedule runs, it will use the dates from SHS231 (current date to current date as an example).

I followed your instructions.
I am not familiar with scheduling in general in M3.
So I am not able to understand the subtlety of this approach that makes it possible to use a current date in my school case. But so much the better if it is the case. Too bad it is not documented anywhere and even the support answers that it is not feasible.
I'm curious to see the result. I have documented everything in the meantime.

However, I still can't understand how the link between the WFFDAT and WFTDAT fields in SHS035 and the selection fields in my report can be established? There is a magic side that escapes me.

Because I could have several dates for example in selection fields.
Can this technique be applied to other dynamic chaps than dates?
In any case, thank you for this feature that is not listed anywhere

Ordinarily you connect the fields in SHS035 to certain fields from the output (normal business jobs like invoicing, etc.). However, for ad hoc, you do not connect them since they are generic from/to dates. As long as your report as a from/to date in the selection field, it will connect accordingly.

In other business outputs/jobs that are scheduled, you can set other fields dynamically, but I think ad hoc is limited to dates only if I'm not mistaken.

'm sorry if I'm asking a silly question and taking up too much of your time.
But in what you have indicated as a workaround, I don't see anything that suggests that it is only applicable for a particular report.
Because I wouldn't want all the other reports that have a date in their selection criteria and that are scheduled to be impacted by this mechanism and systematically inherit a date = the current date in my example.

Adding AHS110 to SHS030

In SHS031 for the AHS110 record, creation of 2 fields : WFFDAT and WFTDAT without any connection

Scheduling of my adho report : There is one date field in the 3 selection fields.

Setting of date/time of the scheduling

In SHS231 setting of the from and to date fields to have the value of today.

But this last setting seems to be not taken into account.

My report is still selecting orders with the date range set up in AHS150 ?

It seems to me that I followed your step by step, no?

Make sure in SHS030, for AHS110 record, job field is CMMNGXML instead of blank. Try running your report then. You may need to reschedule.

I did specify in SHS030 for the record concerning AHS110 that the work field was CMMNGXML instead of blank.
It doesn't seem to have had any consequences ???
I have deprogrammed/checked/programmed everything.
I'll let you know the result tomorrow and keep my fingers crossed

A addiitionnal information : my date criteria is OBLMDT from OOLONE table.
I don't know if this date field is treated differently ?

With your last recommandations, every thing seems to be OK.
But the report persists in taking into account the "hard" selection at the date level and not the current date.

I have cancelled the actual schedule.
I have scheduled a new one without any selection on the date in case of ???

But, for me, it remains a mystery to understand the link between the 2 variables ZFSLCT and ZTSLCT with the selection on the selection range on the date OBLMDT.
Because, obviously, this is what does not work?

However, it would be too bad to give up so close to the goal. Thank you for your help.
