Using syscommand or a file node to unzip a file

We have a partner that is insisting on dropping a zip file, which we use as input to an Infor delivered flow. Right now, the flow handles the individual files, but is there a way to unzip the file (using a file channel, so minimal interaction is preferred) in the flow using a syscommand or other node? From reading other posts, it sounds like the MT environment has some limitations here (we are MT).

I took the liberty of creating a feature enhancement to add either new zip/unzip nodes, or to add functionality to the file access node. Our development team will research this and consider it for inclusion with the product.

Unfortunately I believe you are correct in that .zip functionality is limited in MT. We are currently in ST and 7zip is installed on the landmark server so we leverage that in sys commands (C:Program Files7-Zip7z.exe).

However, we are in the process of moving into MT and are still looking for a solution to handle zip files since the Sys Command is not available in MT IPA. I tried out leveraging native java classes (e.g. java.util.zip) but as I recall that's blocked in MT as well unless cloud ops approves white-listing those java classes for your site.

@andrew-tarver thank you. I assume this is handled on a case by case basis, and not at the MT / CU global level, so, if you do get this approved, I would be highly interested in the details in terms of timeline and appropriate channels.

I created an internal feature request outside of the normal enhancement request system. I will lobby for the feature as a feature gap lost when moving from ST/On Premise solutions to MT.

Not being able to upload/extract compressed files (Zips or TARs) seems like an oversight. After all ZIPs (and TARs) are a standard/common way to transfer data. I don't think any customer would have an objection to up vote the request.

Security is always a concern: a zip could potentially have malware embedded. Good cloud operations should sanitize it before making the data files available for use.

ER 88024 has been created for public upvoting. I did see the internal one in the possible matches, which references an ICS engagement with a need for this too. Thank you @russel-cornelson .
