XRL & Excel 2010 64bit

Had an issue with a clients XRL setup, due to them having MS Office 2010 64bit, when enquiring with support about the problem got the following repsonse :

XRL is not supported in a 64 bit Office environmnet, you will get an error 91 when you try to run it after installing.

Other sites have managed to get it to work somehow, but that setup is not supported as it has not been tested here.

My question is has anyone actually got XRL working in an Office 2010 64bit enviroment, and if so, how.

No, it's not possible and almost certainly never will be. The reason is that 64-bit Office does not support third party ActiveX controls and add-ins, XRL being one of these.

Microsoft themselves recommend the 32-bit version in almost all cases except where a user might need to use huge spreadsheets that are > 2GB in size when opened.
