Anyone have issues with customizations to ActivityEditor and HistoryEditor in Edge browser?

We have a client, still on v8.3, who had us make many changes to the web Activity and History Editors. The changes include hiding some fields and adding many new ones, including a multi-valued pick list which took some extra steps.

But with IE sunsetting, users are starting to use Edge, and even with IE mode turned on, the customizations seem to have 'broke'. 1st time using a form, it's ok, but each subsequent time things quit displaying properly. Additionally, the Activity Reminder seems broken as well...the links do not work.

Has anyone had this same situation and were you able to resolve? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Dawn, are you sure it only started to break recently? What does your browser's development console say? From my experience you have to manually clean up any controls you add yourself in order to not have them duplicate and thus break or simply malfunction. We provided a small clean up routine in our case in order to do this clean up automatically. If there are better ways I'm always also open to feedback, too.

Another question: Do you really need the IE mode? For me at least I don't find any reason to support this browser. This could explain your problem with the Activity Reminder because I never encountered that error before and we've done our fair share of Activity customizations. Since you're still using 8.3, might it not even be a better idea to upgrade to 8.5.0.1, I think this would be Infor's official answer to this question anyway.

The broken Activity Reminder is something we have seen before, even on Infor CRM v8.5..

This happens on touch devices and has been reported to Infor (Incident #15393611).

No errors. Just the controls do not display properly, starting with the multi-value pick list and as the form gets used more within a login session, things get worse (labels start disappearing, etc).

Yes, I am sure it just broke recently. Everyone was using IE and customizations worked great. The customizations only work in IE and client was ok with that. Because IE is being retired in favor of Edge, and IE Is pointing Windows user (v10) to Edge, one user with a new machine used Edge. The customizations do not work at all in Edge. Infor suggested IE mode, which helps for a moment, but gets worse with usage.

Not sure why the Activity Reminder also broke, but as stated, the links do not work and I am only guessing that the customizations have somehow affected Activity Reminder - which we did not customize, just the Editors.

Still works fine in IE.

As a comparison, I checked non-customized v8.3 in Edge and all of Activity/History work fine, including the Activity Reminder..

Upgrading this client will be a major undertaking they are not ready to do. Mega amount of customizations, external processes, etc. So I am hoping someone else encountered this issue and had some guidance on resolution.

What does your 'clean up routine' do? Is this something you can share (with guidance on how to incorporate into existing code)?

We modify our editors via Javascript injection (see: dojo.aspect). In there we take note of controls that we manually add and push them to an array that is maintained during the page's lifetime. We then attach to the hide and close events from the ActivityEditor and destroy() these controls. I won't go into detail because this gets messy real quick if you don't plan ahead, but that's the gist of it.

I'm sorry to read that your customizations broke when using Edge, maybe we should start testing our modifications with Edge, too. But jokes aside, maybe you're calling routines that are not supported by "modern" browsers, I bet there are some compatibility matrices, especially regarding Internet Explorer, which you can consult.
