Multi-Tenant Pre-Production or No Pre-Production - Your Approach/Thoughts

Here at he City of Fort Lauderdale, Florida we are implementing multi-tenant CloudSuite Financials with Global HR. We purchased the 3 standard environments of Production, Test, and Development and are now considering purchasing the Pre-Production environment. While we highly value the ability to test updates in a Pre-Production environment before they hit the Production environment, we are contemplating how realistic this will be in practice from a workload standpoint. I would love to hear from those who have purchased Pre-Production to get their thoughts/recommendation and understand their approach. At a minimum, a response to the following questions would be very much helpful and appreciated:

1. Does your multi-tenant environment also include Pre-Production, Yes/No

2. Thoughts you may have on Pre-Production vs not having a Pre-Production environment

Just to add to your background on this subject, there were two customer presentations on this subject from last Spring (2021). Keep in mind that both are now over a year old and both customers more than likely have refined their processes due to continued improvements being made aware in the cloud products/infrastructure. But still, they are a worthwhile primer for background.

We now have more than 50 customers signed up for and using PreProd. I highly encourage both those using and those not using PreProd to weigh in here and help Ian and others interested in this topic.

We don't use pre-prod. I can't even get people to use test! There are no 'testers' per se, thus, it would be difficult to justify the cost if no one has the time to use it. There have been some issues, but I always inform users of upcoming releases and release notes that are applicable. Issues have been handled on a timely basis regarding any problems that come up. We've never had any critical issues that I am aware of with releases.

We use pre-prod, we originally did not purchase it as part of our original move to FSM but ended up getting it. I would agree with Wendy that getting users to test even in TST is a challenge. I don't know if we didn't purchase all but our pre-prod doesn't include MSCM, dEPM, Birst, or any interfaces so testing is a bit limited. In the current state for supply chain we have our testers test in pre-prod or TST and they have until the Sunday after the CU to report the results or bring up anything critical beforehand. We have only had one issue so far and it was actually part of MSCM so we wouldn't have caught it anyway.

Hmcanthony - can you message me at hans.mueller@infor.com. What client are you from. You should have MSCM, d/EPM Analytics for FSM and Birst Analytics for FSM all deployed. You can setup any/all interfaces to third parties from that tenant as well, but that would be done by the client team or by services/partner your engaged with. But regardless, reach out so we can get those items rectified.
