OCR failed - document management

Hi All,

Has anyone come across the following error:

OCR failed
System.Exception: Unable to read document, possibly MS Word is not installed
at WE_Components.WE_OCR_Engine.Recognise(Object& MODI)
at WinDIP_OCR_Service.WinDIP_OCR_Service.DoOCR()

This is the error on the server (from Event Viewer).

Any guidance would be welcome.

Hi All,

Don't worry, I've disabled the WinDIP OCR Service on the server as they don't use content indexing. Plus Word wouldn't be installed on the server anyway.

Temporary fix...

HI, the OCR needs to be running on the server ONLY - this is where it does the content indexing? We looked into this a couple of years ago & struggled at first. We eventually got it to work with the assistance of Civica, the people who wrote doc man & he commented that you also needed the attached configured? You dont need Word, but MODI installed.

Again, this is purely on the server & nothing configured on all of the clients, except for the document manager client itself

Incidentally we installed MODI from Sharepoint Designer 2007 - hope this helps
