CMS010 related tables won't accept virtual fields

Hi,

I have created a virtual field which is a substring of the main table in CMS010.

I then tried to use this when connecting a related table as a sorting field but I am unable to do it.

Even if I tried the standard provided virtual fields it doesn't work.

Has anyone experienced this before?

I just created a quick Virtual Fields taking Pos 5-10 from MMITDS in MITMAS, and it works fine as per below.

Could it not be as simple as you trying to take Position 6-20 of a 15 long field?

Try using Pos 6-15 instead.

hmm it's weird I am getting 5 char from FPLEDX.EPPEXI it is 45 character long and comparing it with FAPCHK.CKCHKN which is 15 characters

btw did you use it on related table as a sorting key equivalent? there is no problem using it in a view just in the related table sorting keys

You need to activate the option Gloabal read sequence in CMS005 for your printer file.

To be able to use the virtual field in your related table read, it is important that it comes earlier than the related table read in the sequence.

That works great for Printer Files, but we need the same thing for CMS010 & AHS100.

I have Enhancement Request for these out there.
