e-mail tasks from Visual 6.53 ECNs

We are creating ECNs and have had some minimal success at automatically creating an Outlook task when the ECN task is created. However the optimal thing would be to create an e-mail instead. I have the users e-mail addresses in the Visual employee table but have not yet been successful in sending an e-mail when an ECN is status changed or the next step needs to be signed off. Has anyone else done this with this module?
