Speed performance in Document Manager (for some users)

HI has anyone come across this before? Its a littel strange and were not too sure where to start with it

We have a site that uses document manager & for some users when they go to retrieve a document it can sometimes take 3 mins & you can sit & watch the progress bar taking ages, then it finds it. The account has perhaps got 3 documents on it.

If you create a new opera user, or log in as ADMIN, it takes seconds......

Its almost as if the length of time the user has been created has a bearing on how long the retrieval takes. Ie someone that has been there for years is taken a lot longer to retrieve than say someone who has been there a month, or even quicker, a new user

I wasnt aware that the user would hold anything in relation to speed etc. My colleague has uninstalled & reinstalled the doc man & oper alcient, but I cant see in SQL that it would hold anything storage wise against the user?

This is almost certainly to do with records in the Environment table in the SQL Server db for the PDM company. It is easy to resolve but can you log an incident for it so it's all nice and official and I will liaise with the support person.

Thanks for that. I logged with Peg and they came back with the same answer you did. I cleared the relevant records in the ENVIRONMENT table and the problem is resolved for now. However my concern is that it is only a temporary solution and we would need to do this again periodically. I have aske Peg if there is a more formal solution so we will wait to see what they come back with.

Hi James, Alan, what is the command(s) to clear the ENVIRONMENT table? What's the fix?

If the problem is with user BOB and company A for example then after taking backups of Opera and all the SQL Server PDM databases you would use the following query in SSMS:

use dm_a
update environment set UserId ='_BOB' where UserId = 'BOB' and EnvVariable like '%SEARCH%'

YMMV, test offiste first.
