Strange results when printing from Opera

HI we have two sites with identical issues & wondered if anyone has come across this, or can think of a fix......

Customer prints/emails a delivery note & the wrong details are on it, eg customer account no, name is correct, document number isnt...sometimes the details on the note are wrong

Same for a purchase order.....account number may be correct but the supplier details are wrong

One delivery not had the wrong company name on it, ie instead of say Monpellier Ltd at the top it had Orion vehicles (Im just using these as examples

Key thing is, if you reprint them, theyre fine

We cannot recreate this off site with reports, bespoke, system, data etc

And the users cant recreate it as it isnt every time

Weve done the usual UDS with index, SOP & POP reorgs, so were asking their IT for any pointers, but were stuggling a little with what else to suggest!!

We have a site with the exact same problem. If they print an order sometimes it prints out with incorrect information but if you reprint it is always correct. Again, we can't replicate off site at all.

They are also getting random crashes when printing as well although it doesn't seem to be connected to the incorrect information. Equally we can't replicate this off site either.

Are you getting any other errors?

Hi James, is there a historical document anywhere with the same document number? Not necessarily in the data file itself but perhaps in the PDF folder? I remember having this many years ago and something tells me there was a relationship between the new document and another PDF that caused this. Sorry I can't be more exact but it was so long ago and we've changed our helpdesk system so I can't go back and look but might be something to look into as it has to get the information from somewhere but also don't want to send you off on a wild goose chase :-)

Hi James, like Claire i've had this previously. With regard to the SOP document if you look in the IHEAD you will probably find the incorrect information is being pulled from the last or first record. Check for blank records & ** AUTO ** records. Seem to remember Pegasus having a list of reasons which would cause this. Think I also copied all the data out of the DBF, zapped it and appended the data back in. Issue is data related. Hope this helps

H iclaire, thanks for the reply.....its not just one document, its any new picking notes, & you cant recreate it on tap....say if it was always the same account number, but we will certainly have a think about what youve just said !!! appreciate that

cheers Richard, there are no blankrecords in IHEAD, ITRAN, but there is one instance of **AUTO* whih we noticed earlier so we will fix this. Just cant see why it diesnt happen all the time on site, AND in POP & we cant recreate it, if it is data related - but we will defintly give this ago, zapping & appending - thanks

It's not something as simple as the document numbers wrapping around so there are duplicates?

Were you able to get any outcome on this issue ?

I have 2 sites that this happens on and i was not able to get to the bottom of it.

It happens mostly on Purchase Orders and the address of the first account prints out. as far as i can tell its connected to the Anti-Virus but i was never able to replicate this issue off site.

It appear to happen when printing stalls and then sometimes i get a file deleted in the Reports Folder.

This is normally the document design of the layout the customer is using to print the Purchase Order.

The only thing i could find that was common to both sites was the anti virus being used.

If you find any solution at all , i would be happy to try it out on my site as well to see if it helps.

Hi Dermot, yes what youve decribed is what theyre getting. These are TWO sites as well, one in Cork in Ireland & one in Thirsk, Englad (same group of companies though) Both of these use an RDP, whereas our third site doesnt. Its POP & SOP, so whilst the IHEAD & ITRAN would seem logical, the POP part was throwing a spanner in the works......are your sites using RDP? In particular micorosft Azure? the one in *** seemd to hit at the latest version of Opera being used, but we upgraded out site to 2.91.50 on 2/11/22 & theyve been having this since Sept.......many thanks

On both sites they have Microsoft Defender.

What was really confusing me was the fact that on one site we have Opera 2 and on the other we have Opera 3.

Both sites use Microsoft Defender.

More or less the very same things are happening.

I got their IT Hardware Support to run all sort of tests and exclusions and tried to make sure users shouldn't be able to delete any files but it still happens and its always around when printing gets slow or hangs and then the design gets deleted.

Spoke to Pegasus Support a good while ago about it but we weren't able to identify the cause or have a solution.

It is still happening, but not as regular.

Hi Dermot that is very interesting as we also have a site using Windows Defender and exactly the same thing is happening, the IT people have been copying back the layouts when it happens themselves so we don't know how often... Would be great to try and find out what is different with Windows Defender and other AV's out there..

I finally have it confirmed the site I have printing problems has Windows Defender Endpoint. Has anyone managed to get Opera3 to work with windows defender ?
