Urgent Help - Would anyone have a link to HMRC which advises that Internet Explorer 11 is a requirem

Hi all,

Just reaching out in hope as I've moved a customer from a 2012 to a 2019 server today but their IT people are refusing to put IE11 on the server for me for Making Tax Digital and they want something in black and white from HMRC saying this is a requirement, but I cannot find anything on .gov - I've tried giving him the Pegasus documentation but they are not accepting this.

all I found was this

But it is for latest versions and doesn't stipulate IE11

Hi Claire, good question. I've just tested loading the MTD screen with no errors on my W11 laptop with scheduler and Opera / SQL running stand-a-lone. Never had IE installed. If the issue is with the authorisation process then you could authorise the software off-site and then restore the scheduler db to the live server for a quick fix

Hi Richard,
Many thanks for the advice. Just moved customer to new 2019 server so clean install of everything and it wants to reauthorise but it just won't connect to the hmrc, keep getting the S500 error and the only difference between old server and new server is that Internet Explorer 11 has not been enabled - I read somewhere that for MTD the server had to have IE11 but the end-users could use Edge with IE mode. Going down route of restoring scheduler db could be dangerous as they also use email payslips and they need to be able to then reauthorise in 18 months again so hoping they come to senses and put it back on as it was on the old server :-)

Many thanks everyone for your help yesterday, we finally got sorted but unfortunately the IT people won't divulge exactly what they carried out to fix this......
