Unable to send email at present
unknown
Hi,
Anyone else come across the 'Unable to send email at present' message intermittently when emailing documents from Opera II?
The user primarily emails purchase orders but it has happened on other layouts as well. I've been through checking DEP settings, reinstalling Opera II client, made sure anti-virus exclusions are in place but it's still doing it. The machines are Windows 7 with Outlook 2010 32-bit.
Thanks,
Bhav

This is an outlook issue please see information below to help you to resolve the issue:-
If you log on to Opera II as ADMIN then the error message will be extended to advise a more specific error
"Unable to send email at present because...."
It normally relates to the Outlook client being terminated or not being able to connect to the server so will give a path for further investigation.
Previous calls with this message advises that the problem lies with Outlook and the associated permissions.
Things we have previously advised (presumably from copying and pasting from Internet research we've done) suggests:
A) Profile Issue
1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click the Mail icon.
3. In the Mail Setup dialog box, click Show Profiles.
4. Test with a default profile or try Prompt for profile and see if this works
Add PDFMOutlook.dll as a trusted add-in on the Exchange server.
Contact the system administrator to add PDFMOutlook.dll as a trusted add-in on the Exchange server. Instructions are available in the documentation included with the Outlook Security Features Administrative Package or by contacting Microsoft Outlook professional support.
Background information :
If Word is the Outlook e-mail editor, creating a new message in Outlook starts Word and loads PDFMOutlook.dll. PDFMOutlook.dll is an Adobe COMAddin for Outlook that is used by the Attach As PDF feature for Outlook.
As part of increased security introduced in the Outlook Security Features Administrative Package, the Outlook object model used by third-party COMAddins to access Outlook functionality is protected by an object model guard.
If you access e-mail on a Microsoft Exchange server that is set to pass security settings to users and the Outlook Security Features Administrative Package is installed, PDFMOutlook.dll encounters the guard when it loads and the Outlook returns a warning
C) Ensure the latest server, Office & Outlook Service pack are installed. Ensure this also applies to the client. Check Windows Update.
D) Could be an issue with SMTP relay Exchange Server - SMTP Virtual Server Protocols - Properties - Access Tab - Relays Add in IP address of Terminal Server as an allowed relay of SMTP

Will be interested to know if any of the above fixed this issue. I have a customer who emails 1200 statements every month and needs to press the button 'Unable to send email at present' about 50 times during this process which means it cannot be left over night. Pegasus thought is was a resource issue and told us to run smaller statement batches! We replaced the PC and are now using Outlook 2013 but have the same issue.

@Richard
I have seen that where two copies of Outlook.exe are running (kill one of the processes to resolve it although I would have expected the customer has restarted the machine in between runs) and where customers have the email statement flag enabled but no email address.

Make sure no additional Outlook dialogues are open at the time. Many dialogues in Outlook are modal and prevent all MAPI calls succeeding. For example, you can replicate this by opening the Out Of Office dialogue (leaving it open) and then trying Opera.
The other possibility is that you have another e-mail capable application on the system and the default e-mail client is being switched between the two.

@Darren
, we also thought if may be an issue the email address so replaced all the email addresses with our
@support
address for testing purposes and got the same problem. We think this is a VFP / outlook communication issue.
@Peter
, we always have outlook open and minimised when doing a batch. Opera can send 400 and then prompt you to continue.

@Sue
, thank you for the detailed response. I'll go through what I can else pass the rest to their network support team...

Hi everyone,
We have a customer experiencing this issue since their payroll upgrade. It is a Windows 8.1 PC 64-bit with Office 2013 SP1 32-bit. They were running Opera II v7.20.10 and are now running Opera II 7.30.10.
Prior to the upgrade they could email invoices from Opera without issue. Since the upgrade they get an 'Unable to Send Email at Present' (email client terminated) message. However this only occurs when attempting to email invoices upon creation. If they use Ctrl+P to reprint them they email out fine.
I don't understand why the reprint works, I would expect it to just not work at all. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,
I know it doesn't help but we ended up using Spindle Professional as exhausted suggestions above. If you log in as ADMIN does it tell you anything else?
Thanks,
Bhav

Hi Bhavesh,
Thanks for the update. Logging in as Admin just tells me the email client has been terminated. I am going to forward the list above to try to the customer (they are an IT hardware company luckily!). It's just weird that the reprint works.
Cheers,
Alex

Hi All
I have just been informed by Pegasus that Opera email will not work with Office/Outlook 64BIT.
I am surprised that I have not come across this problem before today.
Has anyone got any thoughts or experience of this problem; has anyone found a way around it yet.
Regards
Graham

The way round it is 32-bit Office. It tends to only be an issue with XRL, as 64-bit Excel doesn't support 32-bit plugins. Microsoft themselves recommend using 32-bit Office unless you need to use seriously huge spreadsheets.
