Description
Increase the Document Number field size on the Funding Source / Receivable Customer tab so that the DOJ provided number will fit.
Summary
BMC is requesting that the Document Number field size on the Funding Source / Receivable Customer tab be increased from 20 characters to 50 characters. This field currently allows only a 20 character value. However, the DOJ is now issuing numbers that exceed the character limit of this field.
Document Number is issued by the Federal Government to recipients when requesting funds, aka letter of credit draws. Sometimes this number is the same as the award number but usually it is a unique number. This number is stored in the Document Number field on the Receivable Customer tab of Funding Source. However, as this alpha-numeric number continues to increase in character size, we will no longer have a place to store this number in Funding Source.
Workaround
We removed dashes on a recent DOJ document number to reduce the size to 19 characters, but the current input field will only allow 20 characters so as this alpha-numeric number continues to increase, we will eventually no longer have a place to store this number within Funding Source.
Proposed Solution
Increase the Funding Source - Document Number (FinanceDimension2) field size from 20 char to 50 char.
