GL Account Ending Balance Export

Hi - Which report would allow us to export the transactions and the balance of a GL account? For example, in account 123456 we started 2022 with a beginning balance of $10,000. Activity through the year amounted to -$7,000. The ending balance in 2022 for account 123456 is $3,000. Which report gives us the transactions of the remaining $3,000? I keep downloading reports that only show the activity of the -$7,000. Thank you.

The -$7,000 is the only activity that occurred in 2022. The $3,000 would be related to 2021 and earlier transactions that made up the $10,000 starting balance. Unless this is a system account like RNI or Accounts Payable, there wouldn't really be anything to say what transactions make up the remaining balance in the account.

That confirms what I was thinking. The balance could be from any prior year. Basically, you can't grab an export of just those transactions that make up the balance. You'd have to grab all transactions starting all the way back when there was a beginning balance of $0. Then somehow identify them. Is that right?

Have you tried using the Finance Transactions Search under My Reports? You can use the By Account tab and filter by account, company or whatever. Leave the From Posting Date blank and enter the To Posting Date as appropriate. Hit the search and you should get all transactions to hit that account (plus any other filters you apply). Note that this will not provide the total but a quick export to Excel can get you there.

We are working on a new report option that will show beginning balance, all transactions within your parameters and the ending balance on one report. We are planning this for a future release.

Thank you, Ron. We have done that and I think we struggled to identify which transactions were still a part of the ending balance. We have a large number of transactions hitting the account and aren't sure which period to search to find them.
