Use a cube value in a server list structure selection

Hi Everyone!

Is there a way to use a cube value or a cell reference to define the structure selection in the list designer of a hyperblock? I would like to achive a list of all subelements including parent, but I need to read the element from a nested second hyperblock.

Cube value: yes, using custom MDX.
Cell value: no.

If you want to base the element selection for a hyperblock on the elements selected in another, then the first hyperblock must be nested within the one you're using as a source. The following steps achieve this:

Arrange two hyperblocks one within the other referencing the same dimension In the List Designer for the outer hyperblock select the higher-level elements that you want the expansion of the inner hyperblock to be based on.
In the inner hyperblock's List Designer select any element and choose one of the "Elements underneath..." items:

Choose "Edit Formula..." in the selection settings:

Select the outer hyperblock:

Hi Nathan, thanks a lot for your reply! Could you tell more about the MDX expression that would enable to filter to a cube value.

I can imagine the following solutions:

1. in structure selection elements underneath including parent, where the basis element (an account number) is read from a cube

2. filter for the elements where the unique name includes the cube value (account number)

It would be a great help!

Yes, both of those could work. In the examples you describe, the following approach could work:

Read the account number stored in a cube
Wrap it in the relevant text to turn it into a unique name (e.g. "[DACOUNT].["&<Acct ID from cube>&"].[1]")
Store the result in a variable.
Reference this variable in filters or element selections in List Designer.

Hi Nathan,

Unfortunately storing it in a variable is not an option, since it's not just about 1 value. The cube value is in another hyperblock and I would like to further drill down into the accounts with a second hyperblock. But I'm not sure whether it is possible to link 2 hyperblocks like this.
