Just wanting to find out how others are handling downtime on a resource. For instance, when setting up a job we have the employee scanned in on the resource, they will get all the tooling in place and produce a part that will be forwarded to the next operation where that operation will be scanned in to that resource for set-up, then if that is the last op, the parts will go through 1st piece inspection to be given the ok to run production. All the while, we have the 1st op (the machine) remain scanned on set-up; because the machine is not available to be used for any other job. So even though the 1st op is not actively working with the resource they remain scanned in showing that the resource is occupied.
I'm sure others are handling this "downtime" differently, and I am curious as to how it is being handled?
On a related question, How are companies handling "bad scans"? Employees remaining scanned on resources when they shouldn't be; and employees not scanned into resources when they should be?
