RQC allow UOM change over IC12 Transaction Default UOM
unknown
In the IC11 an item is built to the lowest UOM EA with the IC12 having a transaction default UOM of BX. In RQC-the requester sees BX but after placing the item over in Requsisition Lines (shopping cart) they can change to EA. I thought that was the purpose of the IC12 transaction default UOM to prevent. Am I missing something somewhere that allows this?

The IC12 transaction Default UOM only ensures that BX will be the primary default UOM for a transaction. If the EA UOM has a value of "2" under the Trans column on IC11, that makes it a valid UOM for any transaction in IC. The only way to not allow EA would be to remove the "2" from the Trans column. Just keep in mind that will prevent EA from being used for any transaction, regardless of IC12 setup.

When you try to remove the 2 from the Trans column you get the error message that the tracking UOM must also be a trans UOM. If you try to move the tracking UOM to BX the system keeps putting an X back at the EA level which requires the 2 in the Trans column.

My apologies, it's likely EA is the lowest UOM, in this case it should/could have a "1" under the Trans column. The one makes it the primary default for IC transactions. The setup on IC12 will override the EA, in this case with BX. So the system is telling you the lowest UOM must be the tracking UOM, which is correct. You always want to track in the lowest UOM and let the system use the IC11 record to calculate the packaging for other UOMs in the string.
At this point it sounds like a training issue. The end-user should be educated to understand the differences between a Box and Each. And it would probably also help to inform them that the default UOM is the intended UOM for distribution and should not be changed. You could also drive the UOM from a template, but here again, they'll be able to change it.
The only other way to not allow EA would be to remove it from the IC11 record completely. Although I doubt that is a valid option in this case.

Looks like a training issue though I feel the default in the IC12 should not allow the requestor to change the the lower UOM. Most requestors take the UOM as displayed when searching the shopping guide. I just recently discovered some that figured out a way around it. Thanks for the feedback.

Is this to replenish or order from the warehouse? If it's replenish - on IC11 you can remove the flag from BUY on EA and they will only be able to see BX on RQC.
Otherwise, IC12 is a *default* value. Anyone with change rights to a requisition can override it.
