Spreading Revenue/COGS across multiple accounts

I need to know if anyone using Visual has ever done posing to multiple accounts for Revenue & COGS for a single line item on a customer order?

We do that by putting the revenue and COGS into allocating accounts. Then on a monthly basis we allocate based on a variety of factors, such as labor costs for each department.
