Need Help: Restricting Negative On Hand Balance in Infor M3

Hello Infor M3 Community,

I'm encountering an issue in Infor M3 MWS068, where some on-hand balances are showing as negative, such as -1. These negative balances seem to be related to customer order sales, which are happening in stores using POS integration. It appears that during POS sales, the system is allowing sales even when the stock is zero, leading to negative on-hand balances.

I have investigated and found that the system typically allows negative on-hand balances in the case of backflush issuing methods for manufacturing. However, in this scenario, there is no manufacturing happening.

I would appreciate your expertise and insights on how I can restrict the system from allowing negative on-hand balances, especially when no manufacturing is involved. Your guidance on resolving this issue would be highly valuable.

It sounds like you might have a discrepancy between the On-Hand Balances in MWS060 vs. MMS002/003 Totals.

Try running MWS980 to ensure that MMS002 is 'up to date' (just try doing so when there is MINIMAL activity on the System!).

Hello Rene,

My issue is the negative stock appearing in MWS068. You can see "On hand approve" in -ve as 2-, 2-, 1- and so on. I want there should never be a stock in negative.

As a start I would probably look into why you getting a negative balance in the first place. If the goods are sold via a store and the POS integration obviously the goods existed. Basically what I´m saying is that this is not a M3 functionality issue, this is probably more of a process issue where you need to make sure the stock in M3 is correct and not lower than the balance that can be sold in the stores.... of course it can also be that employee´s in the store of some reason register the wrong item causing the negative stock but that is still a process/education issue (and POS issue blocking selling things that is not in stock)

You are correct but it often happens that the team in the shop did not proceed the receipt of the goods before selling something to a customer leading thus to a negativ stock in M3. That's the problem with "business" and "best practises" :priority is to sell goods to customers rather than having clean stock in the system. You can say whatever you want, they don't care. But yes, POS allows negative stock. If you want to reject the incoming sales ticket, you need to add some logic in the interface itself.
