Strange XRL/Opera behaviour

Hi we have a really strange one & I was wondering fi anyone has come across this....

We have installed Opera on a new server for testing

We have installed the Opera client on an RDP, & Opera launches absolutely fine

We then installed XRL on the RDP & without logging into XRL, Opera takes an eternity to launch

When you log into Opera, you can see in the processes window that its trying to start up Excel?!?!?!? Which is whats causing the delay

Take Opera out of the equation, when you launch just standard Excel, again there is a delay. If you disable XRL, it launches immediately.

AV has been disabled, but their IT is asking what port does XRL use? I didnt think it would use any?!?

Any help would be most appreciated

Hi James, i'll re-test under an Admin profile re-running ExcelAddinRemoveAdd.exe in this profile . It's normal for Opera to open an instance of Excel on launch. Assume you've run the regkeys for XRL which fix the Excel script errors

Hi, I wasnt aware that Opera opened an instance of Excel on launch? And yes weve ran the EnableVBscript reg key....and also this is signed in using an admin profile & then a local user, which is why its baffling us, as in it behaves in the same way.

Ive asked him to recheck the AV

I believe it does it to check that it's installed, and also the version.

Im not questioning this, just curious...when opera launches, it checks to see if Excel is installed? I wasnt aware of that....thanks, James
