Creating a EM that will take one part and creat two - without overinflating demand

We have a component that is built when you take another component and cut it in half.

We use both the full component and the the component that is half of that component in our products.

What is the best way to set this up so that we have accurate inventory. Currently we are overestimating the demand becuase we call up a full componnent every time we need the component made of half the original.

Are you using qty 1 eventhough you are only using 1/2 of that part Id in some assemblies. If yes can you change qty 1 into 0.5.
