Trying to dual source some manufactured parts. Dual sourcing is pretty easy, but there are a few oddities to this scenario that are posing a challenge to MRP driving raw material requirements how we want.
Here are some specifics:
*Total demand of 100 pieces/week
*Company 'A' provides 75%, as a purchased-complete part.
*Company 'B' provides 25%, where we furnish raw material to them. Hence, we are purchasing a service within work-orders.
We can get MRP to equally drive demand 75%/25% per week by:
*Enabling both "Fab" and "Purch" settings in Part Maintenance.
*Adjusting the "Qty per" field of the raw material to .25 in the engineering master.
Here's the real challenge:
Instead of equally driving both, we want to purchase 100 pieces per week from Company 'A' for three weeks, then 100 pieces from Company 'B' for one week, and keep repeating that pattern. So, we want our raw material demand to show 100 pieces every 4th week, whereas now it shows 25 pieces every week.
Any ideas I can try? Much appreciated!
