Computed Date Field in Create Report

Hi. we are not live on GHR yet and are working on trying to create some of current reports. We are creating a computed field in the report to determine 15 days from a date in another field. We can't get it to return a date value in the computed field. Has anyone done this and willing to share the correct syntax?

What we currently have is Due Date = (NofificationofRights +15)

We even tried different function for the Notificationofrights field. But nothing seems to bring back a date for the field.

Try adding days after the 15. Here is one we have working.

Some "fun" examples. (can be used in the List filter, conditions, derived field logic, as columns in list, etc)

system current corporate date + 1 year

current corporate date - 4 months

system current corporate date - 60

current corporate date + 21 days

Hi... Thank you for the info. We did try it with adding days after the 15 in the compute field builder. So you are saying we can't create it in the report build computed field area? We have to create a derived field in the business class and then pull that into the report? It is bringing back the correct date but in the wrong format, ex.. date should be 10/11/2022 but value is showing as 20,221,011 . There is no way to format the value?

As far as I know, that's how you'll want to do it. Adding it to the business class and then pull it into the report. Then you can specify the type.

We'll look into this formatting issue with date here. I'd like to see this as an inline compute and not require a UserField and Config Console work.

Hi. Just checking if this issue has been fixed yet for the date formatting? Also was wondering if you had any examples of other types of compute fields. I am trying to duplicate some Access queries and some fields are Iif Access statements. Formulas for things like: if a field = A assign 3 to the field, if it = B, assign 2. I have several and/or statements in many queries and trying to duplicate them into Infor reports. I am not having luck finding any documentation how to program in this compute field. I am not in IT or a programmer and was told I could not use the same SQL statements I use in Access. Thank you...

Hi Sylvie. I've not experienced the issue you describe above of a derived date returning in the format of 20,221,011. Can you check the field type on the derived field? It should be Date as in the example below on line 7.

Hi... the field is not a derived field. I am doing the calculation in the report itself under the create compute field option. Unable to find a way in that field to set it to a specific date format. I don't want to bother IT to create a derived field in the business class every time I need to do a calculation in a report. A work around given was to create a field for it but seems like the report product should be able to handle this within the report.

Just an update here that in the April 2024 release the date format bug with inline compute date calcs that forced you into creating a DerivedField for the calc is fixed.

So, you shouldn't need a DerivedField for (current date - 1 month) anymore.

That is great news!! Will wait for the fix and finish up the report. Thank you for the update. BTW... can you do if statements in this field. I have another report I am working on to avoid making it a RICE item for the upgrade but it requires some fields being populated based on the value in another field. Can do it in Microsoft Access (where the file is currently being created) and was hoping this was possible in a compute field in V11. Our Infor consultant said it has to be a derived field... but again like this date one can't see the need for creating a field for something that gets run once a year. And that I can do in a Access or Excel.

No, there is IF/ELSE inline in conditions or filter criteria. What is your example though of how you'd use if / else though. curious.

Hi.. it is something like this: if an existing field = A assign 3 to the new field, if existing field = B, assign 2 to new field.
