Removing Stop Dates from Employee Benefits

Hello, we are in the midst of a migration from Lawson V10 to GHR. We have been told by our Infor consultant that you cannot remove benefit enrollment stop dates in GHR. We do fairly regularly in Lawson (sometimes to correct a mistake).

How have others worked around this new limitation in GHR?

Hi. we are also in the process of migration from V10 to GHR and were told the same thing. We also do this often to correct errors and were told we not now and only option given was to enter the benefit again with a start date of after the stop date. However, one this will make history look incorrect since the they never did stop the benefit and two... will be confusing to our insurance provider as they will receive notification that the coverage stopped and then get notification again that the coverage started up.

There are many things in GHR that were programmed with the assumption that they would never be a mistake made and need correction. Obviously, system was created by programmers only with no input from actual users.

Another big issue we have is when managers enter a termination for someone when that person really is a transfer or prior to the termination they end up being asked to stay as casual. We cannot remove that termination request and again makes history incorrect as that person never terminated and ended service. Today we can just reverse the action if already processed or delete it if still pending. I would love to know how others handle this so turnover and other reporting does not include them. And this would also terminate benefits, so everything has to be restarted.

Thanks Syl, yes totally agree that this is an issue, particularly for those of us who are used to V10. Our consultant recommended we use a very obvious future date (like 01/01/2050) as we cannot remove the stop date. But this doesn't always help because many of our reports search for records where benefit stop date is empty.

We have an administrator submit termination action rather than managers, but were looking at implementing that functionality in the future. But we would also have a big issue with not being able to remove termination requests!

We have 2 related ERs if you could review and endorse:

- 85193 - Benefits with same Start and Stop date have Deductions taken in Payroll

- 84248 - Create a stop date in the Employee Benefit Import Business Class and allow the Employee Benefit Import process to create employee benefit records with a stop date.

Hi Heidi. I tried to look at these but won't come up in the search under enhancements. So searched in the community and found a chat that had them listed with a link but when I click on either tells me I don't have access to them. Never had that happen before. Any idea why I would not be able to access them?

Can you search for the EmployeeBenefit business class - which launches the EmployeeBenefitList - personalize the list and make the End Date updateable? This may let you edit the EmployeeBenefit record to remove the end date.

Hm I'm not finding them either... maybe they were archived? Unfortunate that Infor didn't take action on our ERs - could've avoided others reporting similar issues like you are now.

This happens to us all the time. We converted to GHR from S3 in April 2022 and this was huge to us in benefits. Unfortunately we have not come up with a solution. We just restart the benefits up the next day. It's messy in history, but at least there is no break in coverage. Some of our benefits do start/stop due to salary changes or status changes, so having a mid-year stop and restart isn't anything unusual for us.

I do not like that you cannot reverse terminations in GHR! I miss that functionality that was in S3. We, however, run our turnover reports out of S3 (V10), so in there is where I do the reversal of terminations if the employee isn't truly terminating.

Future dated transactions can be cancelled in the Effective Dated Queue in the Async.

Unfortunately, that doesn't work. The error message "Cannot Change Stop Date; Use Stop Action" is generated.
