Hello Everyone,
I performed a server move at the weekend for one of our customers moving Opera and Document Management. Previously they did not have a domain but this has been introduced last week with all computers being added and the new server. Unfortunately they do not have an IT company/department and the person who set all this up is the person in the office who happens to be the most computer savvy.
Since the server move I have run into some issues configuring Document Management which I have never seen before. It appears that the client side Windows Defender Firewall is blocking the connection to SQL/Document Management. I've never experienced this issue before and never had to apply any incoming/outgoing rules to the client side before.
I have configured SQL Express 2019 in Mixed mode Authentication with an Active directory group set for the Opera users.
It is configured to use static port 1433 and I have applied the following ports to the incoming rules on the server:
TCP ports 1433, 1434, 51920
UDP port 1434
Document Management is working on the server without issue but client PC's are getting the message PDM cannot be initialised when logging into Opera. I performed some testing and found that if I switch off the client side domain firewall then Document Management works correctly from a client PC.
I tried adding the above ports into incoming and outgoing rules on the client but this didn't correct the issue. I've also tried changing the static port number and ensuring that nothing else is using the same port.
Have you ever heard of the client side firewall blocking SQL/DM?
Are there any exclusions which should be applied on the client?
Is anyone aware of anything domain related that could be causing this that I can suggest looking into?
Thanks
Jodie
