Query about Inventory Accounting for Non-Inventory Items in Infor M3

Hello M3 Community,

I'm facing a puzzling situation in my Infor M3 system regarding inventory accounting for non-inventory item.

I have an item configured with "No inventory accounting" in the MMS001/E settings, which logically should mean that inventory accounting transactions are not allowed for this item in modules like MWS070 or MMS080. However, I recently noticed a transaction in MWS070 where a Manufacturing Order receipt (WOP) ID TTP 10 is associated with a manufacturing order, and stock was created for 1 piece of the same item.

My understanding was that non-inventory items shouldn't have stock creation capabilities via manufacturing orders. I'm perplexed about how this occurred and would appreciate any insights or explanations from the community.

I have checked same order type of manufactuiring order has been used in other MO also for same item but for those transactions no stock transaction history was created in MITTRA.

you don't confirm when the Item was created.

My question would be if the 'Inventory Accounting Method' was updated on the Item AFTER that Transaction occurred?

Hello Rene,

Item was last updated on 10-11-23. But I have checked in TST environment, that if we try to update the Inventory accounting method for an item, which is already having Transaction history or Material plan, system wont allow updation of inventory accounting method.

Thakur, interesting question and I vaguely reminder we had years back a similar case... but I do not reminder the explanation.

But some thoughts. There is a transaction in MWS070 but is there also a balance Id created in MMS060? And is the inventory accounting method in MMS003 on 0 no cost? It is possible to have a wrongly combination of MMS001 = 0 but in MMS003 still on 1 Std cost f.e.
Not sure what this combination would do.

Hi Juan,

I have the similar issue in MMS003 inventory accounting method is 3. and in MWS060 we also have a stock. This item has only created stocked once in MWS070. All further trnsaction for the items with same type of MO has not created any stock in the system.
