On purchase req or PO, looking up parts by supplier part number or OEM Number

I am capturing a supplier part number and OEM number in PPS040 (Item Connect Supplier) for our maintenance parts. I am used to maintenance personnel often wanting to search for parts either by the supplier part number or an OEM number. However, when searching for an item on a purchase requisition or purchase order there is no way to search for any of the fields from PPS040. I asked our consultant, and he informed me that there was no way to join the tables necessary to create a view or sort that includes information from PPS040. . Other than adding the supplier part # or OEM # within the item name or description in MMS001, has anybody else figured out a way to search for such information. This really doesn't belong in MMS001 as the same item could be ordered from different suppliers and thus there would be different supplier part numbers.

Has anyone dealt with this and found a solution?

Which is the field that you are placing OEM number in pps040?

I was going to use the FUDS field (description) for the OEM number. There are already separate fields for supplier item number, supplier item name and supplier item description.

You can build an API where you join the MPLINE table (pps220) and MITVEN table (pps040) in CMS015 (you have to create it first in CMS010), and create an information monitor in your workspace, or create an ADHOC in ahs110 (same logic, joining the two tables)

supplier item number from PPS040 is saved in table MITPOP under category 05.. maybe you can connect that table.

We have a similar case where the number of our catalogue is very long and does not fit in the item number so we have used the popular number/alias. The alias number is not available everywhere..

I'm not sure if I've understood you correctly, but normally the supplier's article number is transferred to the PO (Panel/I). This means that you can create a sorting order for PPS220, in which you can search for the number using selection fields.

You can use Enterprise Search to accomplish this by setting it up in CMS030 so that it searches multiple Tables for FUDS & ITDS for instance.
