One of our users wanted to know if there was a way to import an excel sheet into the Infor XM? I see where users can export information, but I've never had anyone inquire about importing before.
Yes, we have these capabilities inside of the product. For those system administrators, they have the ability to turn on Excel Import / Export capabilities should they need to massage configuration records via Excel within HTML SAT. And for those end users who would prefer to import entire Expense Report documents via Excel, we provide this as well. The control is a single on/off application parameter: showDocumentSpreadsheetImport. BUT the format of the Excel imported into the product is quite rigid. We expect the Expense Type listing, Cost Center, Projects, and other line entry fields to explicitly be called out in given fields. But once your Excel template is otherwise setup with your configured values it's a really slick process to watch implemented. As the Excel is imported each row in the spreadsheet is validated against any configured business rules, which the end user can then resolve one row at a time. I've only seen this implemented as part of a services implementation (but of course with my background that makes sense). We could have a discussion with them on what an overall setup may entail. Or if you would like to chat on what a sample Excel looks like, and if you feel this is something your team could take on, can at least get you pointed in the right direction.
Chris we are exploring the creation of an expense report from a spreadsheet upload. Our meeting group runs multiple events during the year where the attendee list is over 100. Automating the processing of the group hotel folio is a quarter 1 goal. I've begun discovery using a template provided by Infor support, but as you intimate above getting all the inputs correct and formatted is quite finicky. Is there a presentation or training on how to use the feature and how we can configure the template.
This feature is over a decade old. I pulled up our old documentation from when this was released. Luckily it is very detailed but written with our Services team in mind (there are references to internal folders where our Excel Templates are stored and references to database specific identifiers that we affectionately refer to as BOB ID’s). Let’s discuss what you are trying to achieve and if this document may get you over any challenges you are currently facing.
