This was reported this morning by a client:
When I went to run the VAT return for July yesterday evening, I discovered that the period showing was still June. Upon further investigation I discovered that although I had had system confirmation on 8/7/24 that the VAT return had been submitted and a copy of the report which the system generates, it hadn’t actually gone over to HMRC. I have then gone through the process of submitting the June VAT return again and this time it has worked.
Following this, I then went through the process of committing and submitting the July VAT return, received confirmation (see screenshot below) and the system generated report, however when I checked HMRC they again hadn’t received it. I closed out of the VAT centre on Opera and reopened it and it was also showing that July hadn’t been submitted. As with June, I have then gone through the process of submitting the return a second time and it has worked.
Nothing has changed on their system over the last couple of months - they have used the same machine since early this year, and their server is 2019
I've never seen this happen before and getting the confirmation back from HMRC then being allowed to resubmit is worrying.
Has anyone seen anything similar or have ideas of what to check - we will be dialling in next time they submit
