UnForm on separate server, printers connected to PCs
salbritton
Has anyone been able to figure out a creative way to make UnForm work under the following situation?
Users with printers connected to their workstations (rather than the printer having a static IC address).
UnForm 8.0 server (with UnForm archiving enabled) installed on a Windows 2008 (64-bit)
UnForm 8.0 client installed on SCO6 server (which is where FACTS is installed)
We have Samba also installed on the SCO6 server. In previous versions of UnForm, it was possible to point to the UNC share for the printer (ex: jsmithhp4000). However, I know there is (or was) an issue with Windows 2008 servers and (I think) ProvideX not handling UNC’s properly.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Did you try prefixing the unc name with *windev*

Actually, we were able to get this functional via the following in the *.unf file:
-server 192.9.200.152:27280 -f facts7.7.rul -o "[wdx]*windev*;printername"
Note that the 7.7.6 incremental "broke" this. I had to restore uf8ptr to make this functional again (got a "bad output argument" message from UnForm using uf8ptr from the 7.7.6 incremental).
