Facts 7.4 on RHEL6
jeff-christie
Hi, have a 7.4 customer who ultimately is going to upgrade, but at the moment, I'm trying to move them to a new RHEL6 server and am having some issues. Has anyone out there successfully done this (or close)?? I get a running FACTS system, but something is messing up the FACTS security in SMS100. I can login but everytime I return to the menu, I get 'Invalid User Code' and it kicks me back to the login. Originally, I was getting an Invalid TCP/IP message as well, but that seems to have disappeared in place of the invalid user message! I have successfully moved a 7.6 customer to the same platform with no issues. Any ideas? Maybe the providex is just too old? It's a bit frustrating since I can't really troubleshoot it since it's in SMS100! Thanks, Bob

Bob, we had a situation just like this when we moved a customer on 7.5 to RHEL6. We ended up running their 7.5 system on ProvideX 8.32 to solve the problem. If I remember correctly, there were a couple of other minor issues that came up because of 7.5 running under pvx 8.32, but it seems like they were pretty easy to fix. I wish I could remember more details. But this customer is still running 7.5 with pvx 8.32 with no problems now. I hope this helps.

Thanks Keven, using a newer version Providex was on my short list of things to try!! Good to know that might actually solve this. Like I said, 7.6 seems to work for one of my customers and that would be pvx 7.

Here's my experiences...
For 7.5 and below - Use the 64 bit version of PVX otherwise you will get the message, "Invalid user code" after you sign in go to anything and return to the menu
Redhat Enterprise v4 -> v5
ProvideX v7.71.0000 (x86 64 bit)

Thanks Marty, I had already started down the path of using pvx8.32 so I just went with that. Once I upgraded to that version, my problems have gone away! I'm sure 7.71 would of worked as well. Thanks everyone.
