Is the functionality to trigger workflows in IDM just for decoration?

Hello, I am a consultant in my 6th week.

I watched the Infor guide video on executing workflows in IDM. Following the guide, I also configured ION Configuration. The workflow execution button in the DocumentType I created in IDM was activated, but the workflow didn't execute.

However, when I use the Workflowstart widget in the workspace, the workflow works correctly. But I want to execute the workflow from IDM.

I also contacted Infor about this issue, but they just told me to refer to the documentation. I thoroughly reviewed the documents, but the issue remains unresolved. Please help me.

Is it possible that the workflow is assigned according to the name set in the ION Configuration? Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

There are a couple of prerequisites for this to work.

If you are passing any parameters to your workflow, make sure you have entered them correctly if their names are different than the IDM Attributes. Unfortunately IDM doesn't provide a dropdown.

Also you need to have an active Connection Point in ION for the IDM Application. If you only want to start Workflows, you can create a simple Document Flow with just IDM as an Application. The name of the Connection Point is "daf".

This is needed because IDM will send a Process.Workflow BOD that the Workflow engine will pick up. The BOD will only be sent through ION when there is an active connection point.

First, I want to express my sincere gratitude for your advice. However, I’m embarrassed to say that I didn’t fully understand it.

In the video guide, it mentioned that following the steps shown would allow me to start the workflow directly from IDM. However, when I tried it myself, the workflow didn’t start.

You mentioned creating a Document Flow—should I simply set it up and activate it, or are there additional steps involved? I am quite inexperienced in this field, so I would greatly appreciate any further guidance.

Yes, just set it up and activate it. That should be enough.

Once you have done that you will be able to see (in One View) the Process.Workflow BOD being sent by IDM and being picked up by the Workflow Engine.

I followed your advice and carefully executed the steps. I activated the daf document flow and completed the Simple PO-(omitted) Simple PO Status test as shown in the video provided by Infor, following every detail precisely. However, I am still facing the same error.

There is no trace of this error in Oneview either. There is no sign of it at all in Oneview... I feel like I am lost.
