FACTS 7.7 on SCO
Legacy Contributor
Does anyone know if 7.7 will run on Openserver 5.0.7? I know it won't be certified but neiter was 7.6 and we were able to successfully implement that scenario. My guess is that it won't work due to the architectural changes but I wanted to ask none the less. Thanks.

In my experience with this, your issue is going to be the files that are defined as EFF without the 2 gig limit. These will generate errors when you attempt to open them. If you have the alpha release of 7.7 you can write a program to open each file and look at the value of the fib at 19,1. If this is 2, the file is eff, with no 2gig limit. Each of these files would have to be recreated as a different type of file. Ungh.

OpenServer 6 is the only SCO version certified by Infor for FACTS 7.6 and higher because of the EFF requirements. When we upgrade clients to 7.6+ we use the opportunity to switch them to Linux.

Follow the thread below for the latest I have found on SCO. Along with the technical reasons already listed, from a sales perspective we use this information to switch to Redhat Linux.
