Freight Choices when converting to Facts 7.7; trying to emulate older versions of Facts

We are in the process of converting a number of accounts from older versions (7.4; 7.5) of Facts to the 7.7 version and the customers are experiencing issues with the choices of freight calculations that are now available.

When in version 7.4, for example, they simply could put a freight amount on an order and be done with it; now in 7.7 depending on (as far as the customer is concerned) too many choices - they are not sure what the settings should be to emulate the older versions. They just want to put the freight charge (whatever it is) in the footer of confirmation and be done with it!

To try an keep it as simple as possible in the conversion, what have other affliates done relative to the freight processing? And what are the best choices for the freight fields in customer; SO Static; and entry options to try and emulate the older methods of freight processing?

Any and all insights would be greatly appreciated...

We are growing weary of the statement(s) "That's not how the older version did this; this is too complicated now; bring back the older version - we were happy with it; why did we upgrade?....."

Rob. I *routinely* enable the freight field in the footer and put in custom validation routine which automatically populates/updates the SOFRWH records which are what you access when you drill down into the freight field. I haven't paid too much attention to the various control settings 'cause someone else takes care of that. Hope that helps some.
