Hi
We've just had a very strange instance with MTD Centre.
Customer reported that they got an error when going into MTD Centre. Error writing to file ZVTRAN, then ZVTRAN.DBF has a file length/record count inconsistency.
Used FoxFix to correct the table and noted that it looked like there 3000+ empty records. Looking at backup from a day before, seems like the file header was just reporting extra records, rather than there actually being any records lost.
Thought that would be it, but when they go into MTD again, the same thing happens - as if MTD Centre is corrupting the table.
I have a few avenues of attack which I think will sort this, but wondered if anyone had seen this before?
Things which I'm going to do, which I think will help :-
- They're a few versions behind on Opera 3 VFP, so might suggest we upgrade to latest version
- They have data in ZVTRAN going back 30 years, so I think that can be tidied-up
- We could get their data onto our server to see if it happens here.
I don't think I've ever seen VFP tables go wrong like this. When they go wrong, there seems to be a couple of blank records at the end once FoxFix has been run.
Any help or similar experiences would be greatly received.
Thanks
Ian
