UnForm 8.0 scan jobs for non-barcoded pick tickets
Legacy Contributor
The two clients we're currently trying to get live on Document Archive and Management both print pick tickets to dot matrix printers for various reasons (printing initially through UnForm to a laser is not going to happen). Has anyone already created scan jobs for pick tickets that would work similar to AP Vendor Docs (where the docs don't have barcodes on them), and that would prompt only for company and sales order document number? Anyone willing to share them? It would save us having to reinvent the wheel.

Todd,
We have a couple of customers that print pick tickets to pre-printed forms and use document archive. What we have done is find a spot on the pre-printed forms to print a bar-code of the document number to be able to use the scan jobs process.
In addition to printing the bar-code on the pre-printed pick tickets, we also print the non pre-printed forms to a "null" UnForm printer to create the archived copy of the pick ticket. This gets the pick ticket into the Document Archive system and allows the scanned pick ticket a document to attach to when scanned.
Now, you might not have the "white space" to print a bar-code on the pre-printed form and that could be a problem. One of our customers was in the process of re-designing the form so we had them create a white space on the form for the bar-code. The other just had some spacing on the form where nothing was being printed.
Obviously, the dot matrix printer needs to be able to support bar-codes, but I think most do.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply, Bob. The first client has agreed to reducing the number of detail lines that print to make room for dot matrix-printed barcodes.
