Infor Lawson EDI Comm Server No Longer Needed
Legacy Contributor
With the latest patches of Infor Lawson EDI and EDI Professional for SCM 10.0.3 and 9.0.1.5, we’ve replaced the last feature that is still used from the EDI Comm Server – the EDI Notification Agent – with an EDI status notification feature in the main EDI delivery.
The EDI Comm Server was a service to execute and interact with Cleo A+, a third party dial-up communication package that was decommissioned on August 31, 2010. Therefore, it has not been updated for several releases. However, it also included an EDI Notification Agent that was used to send an email containing error messages from the ED501 or ED502 job log. Some customers still install EDI Comm Server for this reason.
Moving forward, you should not install EDI Comm Server and instead should enable the new built-in notification program. The EDI Comm Server and EDI Error Notification Agent will continue to work for now but we will not be patching it and will stop providing access to it for new customers later this year.
For more detailed information on this change, consult KB Article 1471117.
