Hello Everyone,
Here is the recording of our Ask the Expert session that was held on September 24, 2025.
We have also included the slide deck used in the session as well as a snippet of just the demo portion of the Bulk Import Utility.
The Event Seats/Event Waitlist limitation is scheduled to be addressed with the rollout of Bulk Import Utility in October. In addition to this, the message after the file has been processed is scheduled to be addressed in the same October release.
Ask the Expert Topic:
Infor LMS has been working on a new utility called Bulk Import Utility that is scheduled to be released in October 2025. The Bulk Import Utility will allow administrators to use an Excel file to add users to Courses, Events, Curricula, Certificate Programs, Distribution Groups, Permission Groups, and Catalogs. This new tool gives your organization greater flexibility and a process that’s faster, simpler, and more streamlined than the current file-based method for adding users to course events.
During this session, you'll get an exclusive preview of the Bulk Import Utility, including reviewing the easily downloadable templates, uploading files, reviewing logs, and much more. We will also discuss future options that will be available for the Bulk Import Utility during the presentation.
Questions and Answers from the Presentation
- Will .xlsx file formats only work for the Bulk Import Utility?
- .xlsx is the only format available for the Bulk Import Utility. We hope to change this in the future depending on feedback.
- Will it be possible to control what a user can import in the Permissions for the Bulk Import Utility
- At this time no. The permission for the Bulk Import Utility as is currently developed allows for all options. We have escalated this to our developers as an enhancement after an internal discussion.
- Will there be an option to remove permission groups from users in the future?
- Yes, we are planning to include Unenroll for the other options including the Permissions option. Currently the October release will have the Unenroll Option for Certificate Programs.
- if there is only 1 event associated with a course, the course import [Course Only Import] will automatically attach the single event?
- Depends on the event settings and which Import type you are using. If you are using Course Only, it will just assign the Course to the user. If there is a defaulted event where the user is located, the system will assign the user to event. Otherwise, a user will need to self-register or you would need to use the Event Import
- When will the Bulk Import Utility be available?
- This will be in the October release which is scheduled to be deployed on October 12th for EU customers and October 18th for non-EU customers.
- Does the "Unenroll from Certification" also unenroll the user from the courses within the certificate program?
- At this time, the Unenroll feature for the Certificate Program will only remove the user from the Certificate Program. Content that was assigned to users such as curricula and courses through the Certificate Program will not be removed. An option to remove associated content from users will be discussed with our development team as a future enhancement to the unenroll function for the Certificate Program.
- Does enrolling in a Distribution Group mean that it will actually create a new distribution group or are you already tapping into an existing Distribution Group?
- You will need to utilize an existing distribution group for the Bulk Import Utility. If a Distribution Group is not in the LMS, the Bulk Import Utility will show an error in the log stating a Distribution Group was not found in the system.
