Opera 3 VFP v3.01.02

Hello Everyone,

I am looking to upgrade one of our larger sites from v2.96 to the latest version of Opera 3 v3.01.02.

I'm a little apprehensive following some of the bugs we saw in v3.00.00 and v3.01.00.

We only have one customer running v3.01.02, has anyone come across any issues in this version that we should be aware of?

There are some BACS file issue as below:

Description :

SCR Opera-9035 - Various PL BACS files not being accepted by banks

Due to a change to remove blank lines, this has inadvertently removed spaces from the trailing end of lines for any BACS file other than the following:

NW Autoay, NW PayMgr, SEPA CT, SEPA CT 2025 and Santander.

This will be fixed in a future version of Opera 3 - To be confirmed.

Hi, we've got a payroll issues on 3.01.00. ER NIC + EE NIC + Class 1A NIC should equal Gross NIC but these figures do not balance. Had this issue now in 2 separate companies at the same site so I now don't think it's a glitch. Just waiting for Pegasus to respond. We've had to edit the figures manually via P32 processing to correct. Not moved to .02 yet because every time we upgrade we seem to hit another bug

Existing issue since version 3.00.00.

Sales Period end current balances updating incorrectly after period end where advanced transactions are present.

I believe there is a workaround to create a dummy sales ledger account that doesn't have the open item option selected stops all current balances updating incorrectly.

Otherwise I've had to run VFP or SQL updates to recalculate sname.sn_currbal based on sum of stran.st_trbal.

I think this affects only SQL SE from version 3.00.00. Affected a customer when upgrading from quite an old version of Opera to 3.00.00 & they're since on 3.01.02 for other bug fixes.

Bug fixes from version 3.00.00 include PL rectify allocation not working correctly and PL period end not updating current balances and transactions balances where PL allocations include advanced transactions.

Issues where SQL SE client won't connect to SQL company database when accessing MTD. You have to add the Windows security log on in SQL SE.

Also the issue where the VAT data trawl doesn't pull through VAT transactions from sales, purchase & nominal when running VAT reports or accessing MTD. Only affects client side, so the work around is to run a VAT report, such as the detailed VAT audit trail, on the server where the Opera service is running.

With regard to the Vat trawl issue, we had the exact same issue but support did not acknowledge this bug at the time. Is it being fixed ?

Yes, after doing extensive testing I found and re-produced this bug. Pegasus support also re-produced and have passed to DEV. Think it's just SE but if you have class 1a NIC contributions on an employee and you do a manual calc using either Action → CALC or use the CALC in the payment in deductions screen Opera does not total the Gross NIC total correctly. To correct previous periods you can use the "Edit" option with-in P32 processing

To correct a current period then just run a "Full Calc" and Opera re-calculates the total correctly

Until this is fixed you just need to ensure your customer runs a full calc before the payroll update

It's KB3636199 Opera 8875/8877.

This was the one affecting a SQL SE site with two issues

SQL SE client machine needs Windows SQL permissions in order to connect to Opera databases when accessing MTD.

VAT trawl only works when accessing MTD or running VAT reports on the SQL SE server. SQL SE client machine doesn't trigger VAT trawling or it doesn't populate VAT transactions from the ledgers.
