Data Fabric Data Views in Birst

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could help me with this issue / point me in the right direction.
I've been creating Data Views in our tenant's Data Fabric → Compass menu and would like to have these show up in Birst to be used in reports.
For example, I've made an Infor Data Lake Connection within the Connect menu in Birst Modeler and attempted to use the Prepare and Relate menus to configure the data to be used in reports but to no avail. I've managed to get 2 columns out of 8 imported like this but the rest simply do not appear.
Does anyone know how to accomplish this or if it even is possible?

If the view/SQL is updated after it is added to Connect, the new columns will not be visible when we try to create scripted source.

to add the new columns, edit the scripted source and type the columns in format [viewname.columnname] in select,script and the output columns. Then the new columns will appear in Relate for data modeling (type setup, hierarchy setup can be done).

It also could be due to the fact that some of your columns are returning nulls. Birst will try to define the columns based on the data and if all data is returned null for those columns it will skip. its likely only checking the first 100 or so records as well. Id add a filter to your script that ensures representative data is returned in the first 100 rows when you define the connection. then remove it after youve linked it in modeler.

I'm adding images for reference. As you can see the data is good, and showing properly in the connect and prepare menus. I haven't done any updates on these scripts since publishing them to Birst either.
The columns all show up properly in the Relate menu, and have been added to their respective hierarchies with the exception of two columns which are Measures.
Per the last image, if my understanding is correct, the "act_hkd_wkly1" should show up as its own folder under Default Subject Area → Attributes

Are the model and report are created in same space? if they are different then a network or package is required to connect between spaces.
Is the hierarchy/grain created in Relate and it is connected using 'Source properties'.

First, best practices to follow as you create dimensional models: create a Query-Based Object with a SELECT statement for the view or any object you are accessing from the Data Lake, rather than directly accessing the view structure. Then, create an Extract Group and add the QBO. Create an Orchestration with a Step 1 task to extract the Extract Group. Never model directly on a raw data structure; create a Scripted Source on the raw data structure to then associate output columns as hierarchy or measure. The second step in the Orchestration is to publish that Scripted Source by assigning it to a Publish Group.

You should always confirm on the raw data structure that the Column Properties do not have any data types as None.

As @Sethupathy T stated, ensure that in the Source Properties of Model/Relate that the hierarchy grain has been checked. Otherwise, the relation from the hierarchy and measure isn't created, and the hierarchy is not populated. Also, if you want to use the Birst Time hierarchy, choose a date in your data to 'Analyze By Date', found in the Model Properties.

I've followed your instruction Diane and created an Orchestration. I just ran it successfully. I had created a Query-Based Object version of the same Data View using the SELECT and FROM of the previously mentioned Data view like so. If you could confirm is this is what you meant that would also be appreciated. If this is correct, what would I need to do next ?

I have checked the Model/Relate menus concerning hierarchy grain. The only ones without a Hierarchy are the Measures as it does not allow me to select one. As a side note, what is the purpose or advantage of selecting Both in that menu to be an Attribute and a Measure?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

@Nathan Manseau can you please message me directly? With your Orchestration screenshot, I see that you are doing this modeling work in SX-Consumer, which is standard Analytic content. As best practices, modeling is never in the Consumer space. That space is meant for visualizations only. Before you take further steps, I'd like to guide you to dimensional modeling architecture best practices when using our Analytic Solution content.
