unknown
Hi to all,
Did you know if Infor ERP LN 6.1 is certified on VMWare ESX environment, it will installed on Microsoft Windows 2003 Server.
I know that SLM is not possible to install on VMWare environment.
Thanks

Hi Marco
I heard that it should be possible with FP4, but I'm not sure.
And I don't know more details about SLM in this kind of environment. Sorry.
Greetings from Switzerland

From porting set 8.6a on VMWare ESX is certified.
You have to take into consideration sizing as performance could be hit if the system is not sized correctly.
SLM does not yet run in VMWare environments but there are plans that it will run in VM environments. We have to watch for that when it comes out.

Nestor how do we adjust the sizing requirements change from a standalone solution to VMware. Is there is a sizing document published by Infor for ERP LN that would address both standalone LN server and DB server and then if you were to implement the solution under a VMware vSphere solution running MS Windows 2008 enterprise servers and Oracle 11g Standard?

Hi Mark,
There are sizing guides provided in an Infor365 solution (22881401). These guides are for systems running on physical servers.
As a rule of thumb when sizing a VM environment for production, those systems should be sized using the above mentioned guides and then plan for 30% more capacity.
One consideration to take is that the guides in solution 22881401 make reference to documents that belong to Infor Consulting Services and they cannot be released to customers. Infor has a Performance and Benchmarking Center. All that department does is size systems. Their team goes to companies and analyze the way ERP LN or Baan will be used, how many users will be using the system, the amount of transactions per day, hour, etc. They analyze the hardware specifications and the particular configuration and based on several formulas They come up with recommendations based on that information. They do very specific calculations based on mathematical formulas, and their recommendations are not just a random guess.
It is a good idea to have the specialists do that kind of job as otherwise, Infor will not support performance issues on VM systems that were not sized correctly or by the Performance and Benchmarking Center. That is why we recommend to have them size your system.
Regards,
Nestor.
